Pleasant Fiction in an Age of Noise
Pleasant Fiction in an Age of Noise
I am a storyteller always looking for creative projects. I have many ideas for stories I want to tell and have already produced some of these into public form. While I have worked in a variety of genres, including fantasy anthologies, romantic and teen comedy, and historical fiction set in Europe, the greater part of my work utilizes futuristic projections of the Earth. The evergrowing Palladia Series is set 300 years from now and the pair of novelettes entitled The Birthday Present are set 1000 years in the future from the Palladian era. A second key portion of my fiction falls into the category of regional stories set in Texas. A Year with the Harrisons is about a sprawling, eccentric family rooted in Texas, while The Test of Devotion is a historical Western set in Texas. Ryan and Essie, a unique project for children, has two tweens set out from Texas into outer space.

And that just about covers my books. What about myself? Well, I am a country girl and am the fourth generation to live on our family farm in Texas. My home is on a rural road surrounded by cultivated fields that rapidly give way to wild flowers and wild life and I can always be found scribbling away at a new project. I was homeschooled once upon a time (long ago, when it was less common even than it is today) and I touch on this background and experiences in a couple of my books. Otherwise I like to write science fiction and the occasional historical. I get most of my ideas while drifting innocuously around my house. And sometimes I exercise my beloved, blind Pomeranian, although Pom prefers to vegetate indoors. So in a number of ways my life is unusual and that has directly encouraged me to write books that reflect the independent values with which I grew up. And I am very proud of that.
All of my books are available widely at most online stores and at libraries. So whether you use Amazon, B&N, Kobo, or smaller stores like Indigo and library distributors like Overdrive, my ebooks are just a click of a button away. Each book has a button on its page that links to all stores for easy browsing. Paperback books are available through Amazon.
My books have had extensive work done since their original publication dates. These publication dates range from 4-13 years ago. Alterations to the books include professional edits, whole or partial rewrites, reorganization (this especially applies to the novella collections) and change of series labels. Because of this, my listings on Goodreads are not accurate. I've found it impossible to replace old covers or remove listings of series that are no longer for sale like "The Valley Stories." (The three Valley Stories have been split up into two separate books with no series connection.) Amazon's listings are accurate because I can update them, as are listings on retail sites. But I'd take anything you find about my books on Goodreads with a grain of salt because it's going to be years out of date.
Join the weekly newsletter and get the 6 Book Sampler as a signup gift. This Mini-Book has excerpts from 6 different books, plus a teaser for the upcoming Celestine Princess (Coming 2021.) Book descriptions are included before each chapter to help put what's being read into context. There are 3 books of sci-fi/fantasy, one historical story, and a family-friendly comedy collection represented here. All of these books contain characters that will appear in a soon-to-be-released newsletter exclusive story. So go ahead and sign up and I'll send you the exclusive story when it is ready. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy this introduction to some of the characters in the Palladia dystopian era, the far-future Aure's Dominion era, the outer-space planet of Caricanus, and a keep-to-themselves ducal family and a haughty Egyptian queen who appear in Victoria and This MerrySummertime. I hope you enjoy this introduction to my work.
